After thousands of hard lock-ups, I decided to replace Kubuntu with CetnOS. I has been using it at work and, other then crappy RPM/Yum it is pretty decient.

well, i was still locking up,although less often, and have decided it is my graphics card, with the Xorg Ati drivers i lock up constantly. with FGLRX i lock up "less often" but eventually after running for a couple hours i get screen artifacts, I guess my only choice is to replace the Radeon 9600.

Last night I had to download an iso image of the newest CentOS, we had purchased new server racks at work..

so my choices are; 7 CD ISOs? or 1 DVD????? (which is only available via torrent!!!) you have got to be kidding me, seems like I am not alone either. just a thought, saving bandwidth and all, why not make a netinstall..."debian style". i know the possiblilty of making one and yadda yadda... but a quick 200 Mb minimal netinstall iso is not an insane demand.

changing multiple cd's in a data center is not very fun (plus it's always cold as hell) and PXE is a hastle, period.
....and frankly the only time it is not a hastle is when you have more then a few racks to install on.

So recently at work I checked /var/log/messages... low and behold what do I see? Failed ssh authentications! I would expect myself to type the password wrong multiple times but from an IP in the 200's? Only one thing comes to mind, Asia.

I think this guy said it the best "they should not be a part of the "Internet Community" because they are FULL of SPAMMERS and HACKER/CRACKERs" Now the latter I quasi-understand but I loath spammers.

I have blocked these Class A addresses

219.0.0.0/8
220.0.0.0/8
221.0.0.0/8
222.0.0.0/8
210.0.0.0/8
211.0.0.0/8
200.0.0.0/8

now, I'm sorry if you are that one single legitimate english speaking person from those IPs, and want to view my site. I wish you could, but the amount of garbage I have to deal with for you is not worth the risk.

ps. if you participate in splogging, you are the scourge of the internet.

I assume you would know who they are considering you hate them as well. I got something to say to them, KNOWLEDGE IS FREE. It wants to be learned, it's wrong to lock it up for only those who can contribute money or time. (time is money, especially I.T. time)

Now, they ROT13 encode all of "their" posts from guests. (exceptions being non-human) and, the way they operate makes me livid. Here I am searching for some answer to a perplexing issue and BAM, Expert-Exchange has that answer.......but only if you pay?

....ya know what? I think filtering out all of their results via customizegoogle was most delectable idea.

o and BTW, any person who contributes to this flavor of help is a complete tool.
